Paul Ince, born on October twenty-first, nineteen sixty-seven, is a distinguished English football manager and former professional player. His career as a midfielder spanned over two decades, from nineteen eighty-six to two thousand seven, during which he showcased his talents at several prominent clubs, including West Ham United, Manchester United, Liverpool, Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Swindon Town, and Macclesfield Town, as well as a notable stint at Inter Milan in Italy.
Ince began his professional journey with his boyhood club, West Ham United, before making a significant move to Manchester United in nineteen eighty-nine. During his six years at Old Trafford, he achieved remarkable success, winning the Premier League twice, the FA Cup twice, and the Football League Cup once. His time at Manchester United came to an end after a fallout with manager Alex Ferguson, leading to his transfer to Inter Milan in nineteen ninety-five, where he was a runner-up in the nineteen ninety-seven UEFA Cup.
After two fruitful years in Italy, Ince returned to the Premier League, joining Liverpool and later playing for Middlesbrough and Wolverhampton Wanderers. His international career was equally impressive, earning fifty-three caps for the England national team and scoring two goals. He represented England at UEFA Euro nineteen ninety-six, the nineteen ninety-eight FIFA World Cup, and Euro two thousand, making history as the first black player to captain the national team.
Following his playing career, Ince transitioned into management, taking on roles as player-coach at Swindon and later as player-manager at Macclesfield Town before retiring from playing. He has since managed several clubs, including Milton Keynes Dons (twice), Blackburn Rovers, Notts County, Blackpool, and Reading. Ince's legacy in football continues through his son, Tom, who is also a professional footballer.
