This significant theorem establishes that for any net of isothermal curves, there exists a five-parameter family of plane stress systems where these curves serve as stress trajectories. His pioneering work laid the groundwork for future mathematicians, who later validated his five constant theory for determining stress trajectories in plane elastic systems.

Beyond his academic achievements, Neményi was also a father, notably to statistician Peter Nemenyi. Additionally, he is often mentioned in connection with former World Chess Champion Bobby Fischer, whom he is believed to have fathered, although this remains a subject of speculation.
