He gained widespread recognition for his iconic portrayal of Dean Murdoch in the cult classic mockumentary film FUBAR: The Movie, released in two thousand two. Not only did he act in the film, but he also co-wrote it alongside his friends Dave Lawrence and Michael Dowse, showcasing his creative prowess.

Spence reprised his beloved character in the sequel, FUBAR 2, and the television series Fubar Age of Computer, further solidifying his place in Canadian pop culture. His filmography also includes notable appearances in It's All Gone Pete Tong in two thousand five and a supporting role in the acclaimed film I'm Not There in two thousand seven.
