Walker rose to international fame with his starring role in The Fast and the Furious, released in two thousand one, which solidified his status as a leading action star. Despite facing setbacks with films like Into the Blue and Running Scared, he received critical acclaim for his roles in the survival drama Eight Below and the war film Flags of Our Fathers, both released in two thousand six.

In two thousand ten, Walker starred in the heist film Takers, which was a commercial success, further showcasing his versatility as an actor.
