Pawan Kumar Chamling, born on September twenty-second, nineteen fifty, is a prominent Indian politician and writer of Sikkimese descent. He made history by serving as the fifth Chief Minister of Sikkim from December twelfth, nineteen ninety-four, to May twenty-six, two thousand nineteen, making him the longest-serving Chief Minister in India, surpassing the tenure of Naveen Patnaik.
As the Founder-President of the Sikkim Democratic Front, Chamling has played a pivotal role in shaping the political landscape of Sikkim. His political journey includes serving as the Leader of the Opposition in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly in the year two thousand nineteen. He has represented the Namchi-Singhithang constituency since two thousand nineteen and previously held the Damthang constituency from nineteen eighty-five to nineteen ninety-four.
Before establishing the Sikkim Democratic Front, Chamling contributed to the state as the Minister for Industries, Information, and Public Relations from nineteen eighty-nine to nineteen ninety-two in Nar Bahadur Bhandari's cabinet.
