Pedro Infante, born on November eighteenth, nineteen seventeen, in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, is celebrated as one of Mexico's most iconic singers and actors. Raised in the nearby town of Guamúchil, Infante's career flourished during the golden age of Mexican cinema, where he became a beloved figure in both film and music.
From nineteen thirty-nine until his untimely death in nineteen fifty-seven, Infante starred in over sixty films, many of which he collaborated on with his brother Ángel. His contributions to music were equally impressive, with more than three hundred fifty songs recorded throughout his career. Notably, his ranchera album, Cuando sale la luna, released in nineteen fifty-two, was later recognized as one of the greatest Latin music albums of all time, ranking fifty-sixth in a two thousand twenty-four list.
Tragically, Infante's life was cut short on April fifteenth, nineteen fifty-seven, when he died in a plane crash in Mérida, Yucatán, while en route to Mexico City due to engine failure. Despite his early demise, his legacy endures, and he was posthumously honored with the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the seventh Berlin International Film Festival for his remarkable performance in the film Tizoc.
