Penny Priddy

Penny Priddy, born on March fifth, nineteen forty-four, is a distinguished politician from British Columbia, Canada. Her political journey is marked by a series of groundbreaking achievements, making her a notable figure in Canadian politics. She served as a Member of Parliament for Surrey North from two thousand six to two thousand eight, representing her constituents in the House of Commons.

Before her tenure in Parliament, Priddy made significant contributions at the municipal and provincial levels. She was a city councillor in Surrey from two thousand two to two thousand five and held a seat in the British Columbia legislature for Surrey-Newton from nineteen ninety-one to two thousand one. Additionally, she served as a trustee with the Surrey School District from nineteen eighty-six to nineteen ninety-one, becoming the first woman in Canadian history to be elected to a school board, city council, a provincial legislature, and the House of Commons.

During her time in the BC legislature, Priddy held several cabinet positions under the British Columbia New Democratic Party governments, including those led by Mike Harcourt, Glen Clark, Dan Miller, and Ujjal Dosanjh. Her roles included minister of labour, health, and education, where she worked on policies that impacted the lives of many British Columbians.
