Per Wästberg

Per Wästberg, born on November twentieth, nineteen thirty-three, in Stockholm, is a distinguished Swedish writer, journalist, poet, and literary critic. He is a prominent member of the Swedish Academy, having joined in nineteen ninety-seven, and has made significant contributions to the literary world throughout his career.

Wästberg's literary journey began at Uppsala University, where he earned a degree in literature. His professional career took off when he became the editor-in-chief of Dagens Nyheter, Sweden's largest daily newspaper, from nineteen seventy-six to nineteen eighty-two. He has been a contributor to the publication since nineteen fifty-three, showcasing his enduring influence in Swedish journalism.

In addition to his work in journalism, Wästberg has been an active member of Amnesty International for many years and served as the president of International PEN.
