Percy Lavon Julian

Percy Lavon Julian, born on April 11, 1899, was a groundbreaking American research chemist renowned for his pioneering work in the synthesis of medicinal drugs derived from plants. His innovative approach led to the first successful synthesis of physostigmine, a significant advancement in the field of chemistry.

Julian's contributions extended to the large-scale industrial synthesis of vital human hormones such as progesterone and testosterone, utilizing plant sterols like stigmasterol and sitosterol.
