Perry McGillivray

Perry McGillivray, born on August fifth, nineteen hundred and three, was a distinguished American swimmer and water polo player whose athletic prowess shone brightly in the early twentieth century. He represented the United States at both the 1912 and 1920 Summer Olympics, showcasing his exceptional skills in the pool and in water polo.

During the 1912 Olympics held in Stockholm, McGillivray competed in the 100-meter freestyle event, where he reached the semifinals. His remarkable talent was further highlighted as he contributed to the United States' 4×200-meter freestyle relay team, which secured a silver medal, marking a significant achievement in his swimming career.

Four years later, at the 1920 Olympics in Antwerp, McGillivray continued to excel. He finished fourth in the 100-meter backstroke and was a vital member of the 4×200-meter freestyle relay team that clinched the gold medal. Additionally, he played three matches for the United States water polo team, which ultimately finished in fourth place.

In recognition of his contributions to the sport, Perry McGillivray was inducted into the USA Water Polo Hall of Fame in nineteen seventy-six, solidifying his legacy as a prominent figure in American aquatic sports.
