Pete Wentz, born on June 5, 1979, is an influential American musician best known as the bassist and lyricist for the iconic rock band Fall Out Boy. Before the band's inception in 2001, Wentz was deeply embedded in the Chicago hardcore music scene, where he showcased his talents as the lead singer and songwriter for the metalcore band Arma Angelus.
During a hiatus from Fall Out Boy between 2009 and 2012, Wentz explored new musical avenues by forming the experimental electropop and dubstep group Black Cards. He also established DCD2 Records, a label that has signed notable acts such as Panic! at the Disco and Gym Class Heroes, further solidifying his impact on the music industry.
Fall Out Boy made a triumphant return in February 2013, releasing four successful albums: Save Rock and Roll, American Beauty/American Psycho, Mania, and So Much (for) Stardust. Beyond music, Wentz has ventured into various creative fields, including writing, acting, and fashion, founding the clothing line Clandestine Industries in 2005.
Wentz has also made his mark on television, hosting the first two seasons of the show Best Ink, and runs Bartskull Films, a film production company. His entrepreneurial spirit extended to the hospitality industry with the ownership of Angels & Kings, a bar in Chicago. Committed to philanthropy, he has collaborated with organizations like Invisible Children, Inc. and UNICEF's Tap Project, which aims to provide clean drinking water globally. Notably, People Magazine has remarked on Wentz's unique stage presence, stating that he is a bassist who has remarkably upstaged frontmen.
