Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Peter Adolphus McIntyre

Peter Adolphus McIntyre, born on July nineteenth, eighteen forty, in Peterville, Kings County, Prince Edward Island, was a distinguished Canadian politician, physician, and coroner. His family lineage is notable; his paternal grandfather emigrated from Scotland around seventeen eighty-five, settling in Cable Head, PEI, while his maternal great-grandfather fought valiantly under General Wolfe during the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in seventeen fifty-nine.

McIntyre pursued his education at the Quebec Seminary, Laval University, and McGill University, where he earned his medical degree in eighteen sixty-seven. Upon completing his studies, he returned to Prince Edward Island to establish his medical practice and served as the coroner for Kings County for several years, showcasing his commitment to public service.

In eighteen seventy-two, he was appointed as one of the commissioners overseeing the construction of the Prince Edward Island Railway, taking on the role of railway commander. This project played a significant role in the colony's eventual entry into Canadian Confederation, which was partly influenced by the debt incurred for the railway's construction.

McIntyre's political career began when he was elected as a Liberal Member of Parliament for Kings County in the eighteen seventy-four federal election. Although he faced defeat in the eighteen seventy-eight election, he made a comeback in eighteen eighty-two and was re-elected in eighteen eighty-seven. After two more unsuccessful attempts, he was appointed the seventh Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island by the Laurier government in eighteen ninety-nine, serving until nineteen oh-four. He passed away six years later in Souris, PEI.
