Peter Caruana

Peter Caruana, born on October fifteenth, nineteen fifty-six, is a distinguished Gibraltarian barrister and politician. He is best known for his tenure as Chief Minister of Gibraltar, a position he held from nineteen ninety-six to twenty eleven, making him the longest-serving individual in this role to date.

As a prominent figure in Gibraltar's political landscape, Caruana led the Gibraltar Social Democrats (GSD) from nineteen ninety-one until twenty thirteen. His leadership spanned over two decades, during which he played a pivotal role in shaping the territory's governance and political direction.

In addition to his political career, Caruana is a respected barrister. In nineteen ninety-eight, he was appointed Queen's Counsel for Gibraltar, a prestigious recognition of his legal expertise. Following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, this title transitioned to King's Counsel, further underscoring his esteemed position in the legal community.

In twenty eleven, he was elected as an Overseas Master of the Bench of Inner Temple, reflecting his significant contributions to the legal profession and his commitment to upholding the standards of the bar.
