Peter Maxwell Davies

Peter Maxwell Davies, born on September eighth, nineteen thirty-four, was a distinguished English composer and conductor, renowned for his contributions to classical music. In two thousand four, he was honored with the title of Master of the Queen's Music, a testament to his significant impact on the musical landscape.

During his formative years at the University of Manchester and the Royal Manchester College of Music, Davies collaborated with fellow students to establish the New Music Manchester group, which focused on contemporary music. This initiative included notable figures such as Harrison Birtwistle, Alexander Goehr, Elgar Howarth, and John Ogdon, fostering a vibrant community of innovative composers.

Davies's prolific output includes eight stage works, with highlights such as the provocative monodrama Eight Songs for a Mad King, which left audiences stunned upon its debut in nineteen sixty-nine, and Kommilitonen!, which premiered in two thousand eleven.
