Peter Porekuu Dery, born on 10 May 1918, was a distinguished Ghanaian prelate of the Catholic Church. He dedicated his life to serving the faithful, first as the Bishop of Wa from 1960 until 1974, and later as the Archbishop of Tamale, a position he held for two decades until his retirement in 1994.

Throughout his ecclesiastical career, Dery was known for his commitment to the Church and his community. His leadership and vision were instrumental in the growth of the Catholic Church in northern Ghana, where he worked tirelessly to promote education and social justice.

In recognition of his contributions to the Church, he was elevated to the rank of cardinal in 2006, a testament to his unwavering faith and dedication. Following his passing on 6 March 2008, the cause for his canonization was initiated in mid-2013, and he is now honored as a Servant of God.
