Peter Sutherland

Peter Sutherland, born on April twenty-fifth, nineteen forty-six, was a distinguished Irish businessman, barrister, and politician associated with Fine Gael. His career spanned various sectors, including significant roles in international organizations and business, showcasing his versatility and commitment to public service.

From January two thousand six until March two thousand seventeen, Sutherland served as the UN Special Representative for International Migration. In this capacity, he was instrumental in establishing the Global Forum on Migration and Development, a platform aimed at enhancing international cooperation on migration issues. His leadership extended to the International Catholic Migration Commission, where he held the position of President, and he was also a member of the Migration Advisory Board of the International Organization for Migration.

As a barrister, Sutherland was recognized as a Senior Counsel within the Bar Council of Ireland. His legal expertise was further demonstrated during his tenure as Attorney General of Ireland from nineteen eighty-one to nineteen eighty-four.
