Peter Velits

Peter Velits, born on February twenty-first, nineteen eighty-five, is a distinguished Slovak former professional road racing cyclist. His career is marked by significant achievements, including a remarkable third place overall and a stage victory at the 2010 Vuelta a España. Velits also clinched the gold medal at the 2007 World Under-23 Road Race Championships and triumphed in the overall standings of the 2012 Tour of Oman.

Known for his exceptional time-trialing abilities, Velits made a name for himself as a formidable competitor in team time trials. He was part of the Omega Pharma–Quick-Step team, where he celebrated three consecutive victories in team time trials during the years 2012 and 2013. His prowess was further showcased when he represented the BMC Racing Team at the 2014 UCI Road World Championships.

Peter's journey in professional cycling was closely intertwined with that of his twin brother, Martin Velits, who also competed at a high level. The brothers raced together on the same teams every year until the conclusion of the 2013 season, showcasing a unique sibling bond in the competitive world of cycling.

After two successful seasons with Omega Pharma–Quick-Step, Peter Velits transitioned to the BMC Racing Team at the end of the 2013 season. He continued to contribute to the sport until his retirement at the end of the 2016 season, leaving behind a legacy of determination and excellence in road cycling.
