Peter Walter

Peter Walter, born on December fifth, nineteen fifty-four, is a distinguished German-American molecular biologist and biochemist. With a career dedicated to advancing our understanding of cellular processes, he currently serves as the Director of the Bay Area Institute of Science at Altos Labs.

In addition to his role at Altos Labs, Walter is an emeritus professor at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). His contributions to the field have been recognized through his tenure as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Investigator, a position he held until two thousand twenty-two.
