Petr Čech

Petr Čech, born on May 20, 1982, is a distinguished Czech former professional football goalkeeper who has transitioned into a successful ice hockey goaltender. Currently, he plays for the Haringey Huskies in the NIHL South Division 2. Renowned for his exceptional skills, Čech is often regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in football history, sharing the title of the best Premier League goalkeeper with Peter Schmeichel.

Čech's football journey began at Chmel Blšany in 1999, where he played intermittently for two seasons before moving to Sparta Prague in 2001. At just 19 years old, he quickly became a first-team regular, achieving a remarkable league record of not conceding a goal for 903 competitive minutes during his single season with the club. This impressive feat paved the way for his move to France, where he joined Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2002 for a fee of five and a half million euros.

His talent shone through at Rennes, leading to a record-breaking transfer to Chelsea in 2004 for seven million pounds. Over his eleven-year tenure at Chelsea, Čech made 494 appearances, becoming the club's seventh most capped player. His contributions were pivotal in securing four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Champions League title, and one UEFA Europa League title. Notably, he holds the record for the most clean sheets in Chelsea's history, with a remarkable two hundred and twenty-eight.
