Petre S. Aurelian, born on 13 December 1833 in Slatina, was a prominent Romanian economist, politician, and academic. His educational journey began at Saint Sava College in Bucharest, followed by advanced studies at the Superior School of Agronomy of Grignon in France from 1856 to 1860. Upon returning to Romania, Aurelian made significant contributions as an engineer at the Public Works Ministry and as a professor at the Agriculture School of Pantelimon.
Aurelian's political career was marked by his affiliation with the National Liberal Party (PNL). He served as Prime Minister of Romania from 2 December 1896 to 12 April 1897. His influence extended to various governmental roles, including deputy, senator, and minister of Public Works during two separate terms, as well as minister of Agriculture and Education.
