Petronilla of Aquitaine

Petronilla of Aquitaine, born in the year one thousand one hundred twenty-five, was a notable French noblewoman and the second daughter of William X of Aquitaine and Aénor of Châtellerault. Her lineage placed her in the heart of the aristocracy, surrounded by influential figures of her time.

She was the younger sister of Eleanor of Aquitaine, who would go on to become Queen consort of both France and England, and the elder sister of William Aigret. Petronilla's familial connections were significant, intertwining her life with the political landscape of medieval Europe.

Throughout her life, she was known by various names, including Alix, which she adopted after her marriage, and Petronilla, a name that appears in her father's will, indicating its use during her childhood.
