She achieved a remarkable singles ranking of world No. 28 on May 19, 2025, and reached No. 46 in doubles on February 2, 2026. Stearns began her tennis career at the collegiate level, representing the Texas Longhorns. In the spring of 2022, she made history by becoming the first player from Texas to win the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship in women's tennis.
