Phankham Viphavanh

Phankham Viphavanh, born in 1951, is a prominent Laotian politician who has made significant contributions to the country's political landscape. As a member of the Politburo and the Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, he has played a vital role in shaping Laos' governance.

His political journey began when he served as the deputy minister in the prime minister's office from two thousand three to two thousand five. In two thousand six, he was elected to the eighth Party Central Committee and subsequently became the governor of Houaphanh province, marking a pivotal point in his career.

In two thousand eleven, Viphavanh was elected to the Politburo and took on the role of Minister of Education and Sports. His leadership extended beyond education as he also served as the president of the Lao–Vietnam Friendship Association, fostering strong ties between the two nations.

In two thousand fourteen, he ascended to the position of Deputy Prime Minister, and by April two thousand sixteen, he was elected as Vice President of Laos. His political acumen culminated in his election as Prime Minister by the National Assembly of Laos in March two thousand twenty-one, solidifying his status as a key figure in Laotian politics.
