Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Phil Bardsley

Phil Bardsley, born on June 28, 1985, is a former professional footballer renowned for his role as a full back. His football journey began at Manchester United, where he made 18 appearances over five seasons. During his time at the club, he was loaned to several teams, including Royal Antwerp, Burnley, Rangers, Aston Villa, and Sheffield United, gaining valuable experience along the way.

In January 2008, Bardsley made a significant move to Sunderland for an initial fee of eight hundred fifty thousand pounds. He quickly established himself as a key player at the Stadium of Light under the management of Steve Bruce and later Martin O'Neill. His standout performance during the 2010-11 season earned him the player of the year award, highlighting his contributions to the team.

However, his tenure at Sunderland was not without challenges. A falling-out with manager Paolo Di Canio in the 2012-13 season saw him lose his place in the starting lineup. Nevertheless, he made a comeback under Gus Poyet, playing a crucial role in helping Sunderland avoid relegation in the 2013-14 season and reaching the Football League Cup final in 2014, where they faced Manchester City.

After his contract with Sunderland expired in June 2014, Bardsley joined Stoke City on a free transfer, where he spent three seasons. In July 2017, he moved to Burnley, before ultimately concluding his professional career at Stockport County.
