Phil Collins

Phil Collins, born on January 30, 1951, in West London, is a multifaceted English artist renowned for his contributions as a singer, drummer, songwriter, and actor. He began his musical journey at the tender age of five, mastering the drums while simultaneously honing his acting skills in drama school. His early career saw him shine as the Artful Dodger in the West End production of the musical Oliver!, but it was his transition to music that would define his legacy.

In 1970, Collins joined the rock band Genesis as their drummer, later stepping into the role of lead singer in 1975 after Peter Gabriel's departure. His tenure with Genesis was marked by groundbreaking albums and tours, but it was during the 1980s that Collins truly emerged as a solo artist. His albums, including Face Value, Hello, I Must Be Going, No Jacket Required, and ...But Seriously, produced numerous hits, solidifying his status as one of the most successful pop and adult contemporary singers of the era.

Collins's distinctive sound, characterized by a unique gated reverb drum technique, became a hallmark of his music. He played a pivotal role in the charity single 'Do They Know It's Christmas?' and made history by performing at both Live Aid concerts in 1985. He rejoined Genesis for their Turn It On Again Tour in 2007 and later embarked on the Not Dead Yet Tour from 2017 to 2019. His final reunion with Genesis took place in 2020, culminating in a tour that spanned from 2021 to 2022.

With a staggering thirty-three and a half million certified units sold in the US and an estimated one hundred fifty million records sold worldwide, Collins is among the best-selling artists globally. His accolades include eight Grammy Awards, six Brit Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and an Academy Award, alongside numerous honors recognizing his songwriting prowess.
