Phil Read

Phil Read, born on January first, nineteen thirty-nine, is a celebrated English motorcycle racer and businessperson. His illustrious career in Grand Prix motorcycle racing spanned from nineteen sixty-one to nineteen seventy-six, during which he made a significant mark in the sport.

Read is particularly renowned for being the first racer to clinch world championships in the one hundred twenty-five cc, two hundred fifty cc, and five hundred cc classes. Despite often being in the shadow of his contemporary, Mike Hailwood, Read's remarkable talent shone through as he secured seven FIM Grand Prix road racing world championships.

In recognition of his contributions to motorcycle racing, Read was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the nineteen seventy-nine Birthday Honours. This honor was awarded for his exceptional services to the sport he loves.

Further solidifying his legacy, the F.I.M. inducted Read into the prestigious MotoGP Hall of Fame in two thousand thirteen, a testament to his enduring impact on motorcycle racing.
