Philip M. Breedlove, born on September 21, 1955, is a distinguished retired four-star general in the United States Air Force. His illustrious military career culminated in his role as the commander of U.S. European Command and the 17th Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) of NATO Allied Command Operations, positions he held from May 2013 until May 4, 2016.

Before assuming these high-profile commands, Breedlove served as the commander of U.S. Air Forces Europe, where he also oversaw U.S. Air Forces Africa and directed the Air Component Command at Ramstein. His leadership capabilities were further recognized during his tenure as the 36th vice chief of staff of the United States Air Force from January 14, 2011, to July 27, 2012.

On May 10, 2013, Breedlove officially took command of USEUCOM in a ceremony held in Stuttgart, Germany. Just three days later, he stepped into the role of SACEUR, marking a significant chapter in his career.

His tenure as SACEUR concluded with the appointment of U.S. Army General Curtis Scaparrotti as his successor on March 11, 2016, highlighting the impactful legacy Breedlove left within NATO and the broader military community.
