Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Philipp Wollscheid

Philipp Wollscheid, born on March sixth, nineteen eighty-nine, is a former professional footballer from Germany, renowned for his role as a centre-back. His football journey began in the amateur leagues of Saarland, where he honed his skills before making the leap to semi-professional football with SV Rot-Weiss Hasborn in two thousand seven.

Wollscheid's talent quickly caught the attention of larger clubs, leading him to 1. FC Saarbrücken. After a brief stint, he was released in the summer of two thousand nine, but his fortunes changed when he joined 1. FC Nürnberg following a successful trial. His time with Nürnberg was marked by impressive performances that earned him a spot in the Bundesliga, solidifying his reputation as a reliable defender.

In July two thousand twelve, Wollscheid transferred to Bayer Leverkusen, where he became a regular starter under coach Sami Hyypiä during the two thousand twelve to two thousand fourteen seasons. However, a change in management saw him fall out of favor, prompting a loan move to 1. FSV Mainz 05 in August two thousand fourteen.

His career took him across borders when he joined English club Stoke City on loan in January two thousand fifteen, a move that became permanent at the end of that season. Despite his initial success, Wollscheid faced challenges at Stoke, including an unsuccessful loan at VfL Wolfsburg during the two thousand sixteen to two thousand seventeen season. In August two thousand seventeen, he parted ways with Stoke and signed with French club Metz, where he ultimately retired from professional football in October two thousand nineteen.
