Philippa Fawcett

Philippa Fawcett, born on April fourth, eighteen sixty-eight, was a pioneering English mathematician and educator whose contributions to the field of mathematics were groundbreaking for women in academia.

She made history as the first woman to achieve the highest score in the prestigious Cambridge Mathematical Tripos exams, a remarkable feat that showcased her exceptional talent and intellect.

Fawcett dedicated her career to education, teaching at Newnham College, Cambridge, where she inspired countless students. Her influence extended beyond the classroom as she also taught at a teacher training college in Johannesburg and later took on an administrative role with the London County Council.
