Philippe Panneton

He served as its president from nineteen forty-seven to nineteen fifty-three.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Panneton's career took a diplomatic turn when he was appointed ambassador to Portugal in nineteen fifty-six. His tenure in this role showcased his versatility and commitment to fostering international relations. Sadly, he passed away in Lisbon in nineteen sixty, leaving behind a legacy of literary and cultural contributions.

In recognition of his achievements, Panneton was awarded the Lorne Pierce Medal in nineteen fifty-nine, a testament to his impact on Canadian literature and his dedication to the arts.
