Pierre de Coubertin

Charles Pierre de Frédy, Baron de Coubertin, born on January first, eighteen sixty-three, was a prominent French educator and historian. He is celebrated as the co-founder of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and served as its second president. His vision and dedication to sports education have earned him the title of the father of the modern Olympic Games.

Born into an aristocratic family, Coubertin pursued a diverse academic path, focusing on education and history. He graduated with a degree in law and public affairs from the prestigious Paris Institute of Political Studies, known as Sciences Po. It was during his time there that he conceived the revolutionary idea of reviving the ancient Olympic Games, which would later transform the landscape of international sports.
