Pierre Moreau, born on December twelfth, nineteen fifty-seven, is a prominent Canadian politician and former lawyer. He has been serving as the representative of the Government in the Senate since two thousand twenty-five, appointed under Prime Minister Mark Carney. His political journey in the Senate began in two thousand twenty-four when he was appointed on the advice of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, representing the Laurentides division of Quebec.
Moreau's political career took off in the National Assembly of Quebec, where he was a Liberal member from two thousand three to two thousand seven. In two thousand thirteen, he made a notable attempt to lead the Quebec Liberal Party, finishing second to Philippe Couillard. His dedication to public service was further demonstrated when he was re-elected for a third consecutive term in Châteauguay on April seventh, two thousand fourteen, during an election that saw the Liberals secure a majority government.
Following his re-election, Philippe Couillard appointed Moreau as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy, as well as Minister responsible for the Montérégie region on April twenty-third, two thousand fourteen. However, his tenure in the National Assembly came to an end when he lost his seat in the two thousand eighteen Quebec general election, marking a significant shift in his political career.
