Pieter Weening, born on April fifth, nineteen eighty-one, is a distinguished former professional road bicycle racer from the Netherlands. His professional career spanned from two thousand four to two thousand twenty, during which he showcased his exceptional talent while riding for several prominent teams, including Rabobank, Orica–GreenEDGE, Roompot–Charles, and Trek–Segafredo.
Throughout his illustrious career, Weening achieved a remarkable total of thirteen victories. Notably, he secured Grand Tour stage wins at the two thousand five Tour de France, the two thousand eleven Giro d'Italia, and the two thousand fourteen Giro d'Italia. His prowess was further demonstrated with victories in the two thousand thirteen Tour de Pologne and the two thousand sixteen Tour of Norway stage races.
After retiring from competitive cycling, Weening transitioned into a new role as a directeur sportif. Since the beginning of the two thousand twenty-two season, he has been contributing his extensive experience and knowledge to UCI WorldTeam Team Jayco–AlUla, guiding the next generation of cyclists.
