PJ Morton

P.J. Morton, born Paul Sylvester Morton Jr. on March 29, 1981, is a multifaceted American musician known for his talents as a singer, songwriter, and record producer. His journey in music took a significant turn in 2010 when he joined the pop rock band Maroon 5 as a touring member. By 2012, he became an official member of the band following Jesse Carmichael's brief hiatus, marking a pivotal moment in his career.

In addition to his work with Maroon 5, Morton ventured into solo projects, signing with Young Money to release his debut major-label studio album, New Orleans, in 2013. His subsequent self-released album, Gumbo, garnered critical acclaim and earned him two Grammy Award nominations for Best R&B Album and Best R&B Song at the sixtieth Annual Grammy Awards. Over the years, Morton has been recognized with six Grammy Awards, solidifying his status in the music industry.

Beyond his musical endeavors, Morton has expressed a deep commitment to his roots. In 2019, he announced plans to restore the New Orleans home of jazz pioneer Buddy Bolden, aiming to create a museum and community space at the site. This historic home has been owned by Morton's father's church for over a decade and was previously cited for demolition by neglect, highlighting Morton's dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of his hometown.
