Polad Hashimov

Polad Hashimov, born on January second, nineteen seventy-five, was a distinguished Azerbaijani military officer who rose to prominence as a major general. He served as the Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the 3rd Army Corps of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, earning a reputation as a formidable leader in the military community.

Hashimov's military career was marked by his participation in significant conflicts, including the First Nagorno-Karabakh War and the Four-Day War. His leadership during the border clashes with Armenia in July twenty twenty was particularly notable, showcasing his strategic acumen and commitment to his country.

Tragically, Hashimov was killed in action on the morning of July fourteenth, twenty twenty, while bravely fighting on the front lines in the Tovuz District of Azerbaijan. His untimely death ignited widespread protests across the nation, with citizens calling for a decisive response against Armenia, setting the stage for the subsequent Nagorno-Karabakh war that began in September of the same year.

In recognition of his valor and sacrifice, Polad Hashimov was posthumously awarded the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan in December twenty twenty.
