Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Polyaenus

Polyaenus, a distinguished figure of the second century, emerged from Bithynia in Asia Minor, where he cultivated his talents as a writer, historian, poet, and lawyer. His most notable work, the 'Stratagems in War', showcases his deep understanding of military tactics and strategies, earning him recognition as a prominent rhetorician of his time.

Throughout his career, Polyaenus dedicated his efforts to the art of rhetoric, often pleading cases before the Roman emperors. His dedication to the craft is evident in his writings, which reflect both his scholarly pursuits and his practical experiences in the legal arena.

In approximately one hundred sixty-three, Polyaenus dedicated 'Stratagems in War' to the emperors Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus during their campaigns in the Roman–Parthian War. Although he was too advanced in age to join them on the battlefield, his work served as a valuable resource for military leaders of the time.
