Primož Roglič, born on October twenty-ninth, nineteen eighty-nine, is a distinguished Slovenian professional racing cyclist currently riding for the UCI WorldTeam Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe. His journey into cycling began after a ski jumping accident at Planica, leading him to switch sports at the age of twenty-three. Despite this late start, Roglič has emerged as one of the most accomplished cyclists of his generation, achieving remarkable victories in time trials, one-week stage races, and Grand Tours.
Roglič's impressive record includes five Grand Tour victories, notably tying the record with four wins at the Vuelta a España in two thousand nineteen, two thousand twenty, two thousand twenty-one, and two thousand twenty-four, along with a win at the Giro d'Italia in two thousand twenty-three. He made history as the first Slovenian to triumph in either of these prestigious races.
In addition to his Grand Tour successes, Roglič finished second overall at the two thousand twenty Tour de France, becoming the first Slovenian to don the yellow jersey, although he ultimately lost the title to fellow countryman Tadej Pogačar. His accolades also include winning the cycling monument Liège–Bastogne–Liège in two thousand twenty, which contributed to him receiving the Vélo d'Or, awarded to the most successful cyclist of the racing season.
Roglič's prowess was further highlighted in two thousand twenty-one when he secured an Olympic gold medal in the men's individual time trial, marking Slovenia's first cycling medal at the Olympics. Between two thousand nineteen and two thousand twenty-one, he held the number one ranking in the UCI Men's road racing world ranking for seventy-five weeks, a former record, and has twice concluded the year as the top-ranked cyclist.
