Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Prince Alfonso Carlos, Duke of Anjou and San Jaime

Prince Alfonso Carlos, Duke of Anjou and San Jaime, born on September twelfth, eighteen forty-nine, was a prominent military figure and the Carlist claimant to the Spanish throne, known as Alfonso Carlos I. His royal aspirations extended beyond Spain, as some French Legitimists recognized him as Charles XII of France, although he never formally accepted these titles.

In eighteen seventy, Alfonso Carlos took up arms with the papal troops, valiantly defending Rome against the advancing Italian Army. His military career continued during the Third Carlist War from eighteen seventy-two to eighteen seventy-four, where he played a crucial role in commanding various sections of the front.

Following a period of relative seclusion from the mid-eighteen seventies until the early nineteen thirties, he resided in Austria, engaging primarily in private life. His public endeavors during this time were largely focused on advocating for an international league against dueling.

Upon the unexpected passing of his nephew, Jaime de Borbón y de Borbón-Parma, in nineteen thirty-one, Alfonso Carlos inherited the claims to the Spanish and French thrones. In his later years, he dedicated himself to strengthening Carlist structures within Spain, leading the movement into an anti-Republican conspiracy that contributed to the July coup d'état. As the last undisputed Carlist pretender, his death marked a significant turning point, leading to the fragmentation of the movement into various factions.
