Pritam

Pritam Chakraborty, widely known as Pritam, was born on June 14, 1971. He is a celebrated Indian composer and singer, recognized for his significant contributions to Bollywood music. After graduating from the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) with a degree in Sound Engineering, Pritam began his career as an ad jingle composer and sound designer, eventually making his mark in the film industry.

His journey in film music commenced with a collaboration alongside Jeet Gannguli in the 2001 Hindi film Tere Liye. Pritam's solo debut came in 2003 with the film Stumped, but it was the soundtrack of Dhoom in 2004, particularly the title track, that catapulted him to fame, earning him the Zee Cine Award for Best Track of the Year and widespread recognition.

Over a career that spans more than two decades, Pritam has composed music for over one hundred twenty-five Bollywood films and has received numerous accolades, including a National Film Award at the 70th National Film Awards in 2022 and nine Filmfare Awards. His early work primarily focused on soundtracks, with significant collaborations with Vishesh Films and Yash Raj Films.

One of his notable projects, the romantic drama Barfi!, marked his debut as a background score composer. Pritam has since expanded his artistic range through partnerships with prominent production houses such as Dharma Productions, T-Series Films, and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. In 2016, he founded JAM8, an A&R music production platform, which has become one of the most advanced music production facilities in India, contributing music to various films through its in-house composers.
