Proclus

Proclus Lycius, born on the eighth of February in the year four hundred twelve, stands as a towering figure in the realm of Neoplatonism. Known as Proclus the Successor, he was one of the last significant classical philosophers of late antiquity, leaving an indelible mark on the philosophical landscape.

His contributions to Neoplatonism are profound, as he developed one of the most intricate and comprehensive systems of thought within this philosophical tradition. Proclus's work not only shaped the course of ancient philosophy but also influenced subsequent intellectual movements, including Byzantine philosophy and early Islamic thought.

Through the efforts of later interpreters and translators, Proclus's ideas permeated scholastic philosophy and even reached the heights of German idealism. Notably, the philosopher G. W. F. Hegel regarded Proclus's Platonic Theology as a pivotal transition from ancient philosophy to the foundations of Christianity.
