Protase Rugambwa

Protase Rugambwa, born on May thirty-first, nineteen sixty, is a distinguished Tanzanian prelate of the Catholic Church. He has recently taken on the role of metropolitan archbishop of the Archdiocese of Tabora, a position he has held since November twenty twenty-three, following a seven-month tenure as coadjutor.

Before his current appointment, Rugambwa served as the secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples from November twenty seventeen to April twenty twenty-three. His dedication to the Church was further exemplified during his time as adjunct secretary of the same congregation and as president of the Pontifical Mission Societies from two thousand twelve to two thousand seventeen.

In a significant recognition of his contributions, Pope Francis elevated him to the rank of cardinal on September thirtieth, twenty twenty-three. This honor reflects his commitment to the Catholic faith and his influential role within the Church.
