Queen Noor of Jordan

Queen Noor of Jordan, born on August 23, 1951, is an American-born Jordanian philanthropist and activist. She became the fourth wife of King Hussein of Jordan, marrying him on June 15, 1978, and served as Queen until his passing on February 7, 1999. Her life has been marked by a commitment to humanitarian causes and public service.

As a prominent figure in global philanthropy, Queen Noor has held significant roles, including being the longest-standing member of the Board of Commissioners of the International Commission on Missing Persons. Her advocacy extends to various issues, notably her leadership as president of the United World Colleges movement and her efforts in the anti-nuclear weapons proliferation campaign, Global Zero.

In recognition of her contributions to society, Queen Noor was honored with Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson Award for her public service in two thousand fifteen. Her dedication to humanitarian efforts continues to inspire many around the world.
