Quinton de Kock, born on December seventeenth, nineteen ninety-two, is a prominent South African cricketer renowned for his exceptional skills as a wicket-keeper batsman. He has made a significant impact on the international cricket scene, having served as the captain of the South Africa national team across all formats. Currently, he plays for the Titans at the domestic level and represents South Africa in white-ball cricket.
De Kock's cricketing journey began with his domestic debut for the Highveld Lions during the 2012/2013 season. His talent quickly caught the attention of national selectors, particularly during a standout performance in the Champions League T20, where he formed a match-winning partnership with Neil McKenzie against the Mumbai Indians. His impressive first-class rankings, finishing fourth despite playing only six matches, further solidified his reputation.
Making his international debut in the first match of South Africa's home Twenty20 International series against New Zealand, de Kock stepped in as wicket-keeper for the rested AB de Villiers. He has since been a regular feature in the One Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) formats. Notably, he made his Test debut in February twenty fourteen, initially playing solely as a batsman.
By the time he reached his twentieth ODI match, de Kock had already notched up five centuries, becoming the fourth player to score three consecutive one-day centuries and the second to achieve four ODI centuries before his twenty-first birthday. His record-setting performance continued as he became the fastest player to complete twelve ODI hundreds in his seventy-fourth match against Sri Lanka on February tenth, twenty seventeen.
Before joining the Titans in twenty fifteen, de Kock played for Gauteng and the Highveld Lions. His IPL career includes stints with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians. While he typically opens the batting in ODIs and T20s, he often bats in the middle order during Test matches. In July twenty twenty, he was honored as South Africa's Men's Cricketer of the Year, and in December twenty twenty, he captained South Africa for the first time in Test cricket during a series against Sri Lanka.
