He is renowned for his significant contributions to R&B, hip hop, and pop music, earning him titles such as 'the King of R&B' and 'the Pied Piper of R&B'. His career, marked by commercial success, saw him release eighteen studio albums and numerous hit singles, including 'I Believe I Can Fly', 'Bump N' Grind', and 'Ignition (Remix)'. In 2025, he was recognized by Billboard as the ninth-best R&B artist of all time.
