Rachida Dati, born on November twenty-seventh, nineteen sixty-five, is a prominent French politician, lawyer, and magistrate. She has held significant positions in the French government, including serving as Minister of Culture from two thousand twenty-four to two thousand twenty-six under the administrations of Gabriel Attal, Michel Barnier, François Bayrou, and Sébastien Lecornu. Prior to this role, she was the Minister of Justice from two thousand seven to two thousand nine during François Fillon's tenure as Prime Minister.
A member of The Republicans (LR), Dati represented Île-de-France as a Member of the European Parliament from two thousand nine to two thousand nineteen. She gained national prominence as a spokesperson for Nicolas Sarkozy during his successful presidential campaign in two thousand seven, which led to her appointment in the government following his victory.
In two thousand eight, Dati was elected as the mayor of the 7th arrondissement of Paris and simultaneously joined the Council of Paris. Although she ran for Mayor of Paris in the two thousand twenty municipal election, she was defeated by the incumbent, Anne Hidalgo. Following this election, she took on the role of opposition leader in the Council of Paris. Dati made another bid for the mayoralty in two thousand twenty-six, finishing second to socialist Emmanuel Grégoire.
