Ragnar Lundberg

Ragnar Lundberg, born on September 22, 1924, was a distinguished Swedish pole vaulter whose athletic prowess shone brightly during the mid-twentieth century. Competing in the Olympics of 1948, 1952, and 1956, Lundberg showcased his exceptional talent, securing a bronze medal in the 1952 Games while finishing fifth in both the 1948 and 1956 competitions.

His remarkable achievements extended beyond the Olympic stage. At the European Championships, Lundberg claimed a gold medal in 1950 and a silver in 1954. That same year, he also excelled in the 110 m hurdles, earning a silver medal, further highlighting his versatility as an athlete.

Throughout his career, Lundberg made significant contributions to the sport of pole vaulting, notably improving the European pole vault record from four point thirty-two meters to four point forty-four meters between 1948 and 1952. He also elevated the Swedish record from four point twenty-one meters to four point forty-six meters, solidifying his legacy in Swedish athletics.
