Raimonds Vējonis

Raimonds Vējonis, born on June fifteenth, nineteen sixty-six, is a prominent Latvian politician and biologist. He made history by serving as the ninth President of Latvia from two thousand fifteen to two thousand nineteen, showcasing his leadership and commitment to the nation.

Before ascending to the presidency, Vējonis held several key positions in the Latvian government. He was the Minister of Environmental Protection and Regional Development in two thousand two and again in two thousand eleven. Additionally, he served as the Minister of the Environment from two thousand three to two thousand eleven, during which time he focused on sustainable development and environmental issues.

In two thousand fourteen, Vējonis took on the role of Minister of Defence, where he worked diligently to enhance Latvia's national security. His political journey reflects a deep dedication to public service and environmental stewardship.

Since two thousand twenty, he has also been the president of the Latvian Basketball Association, further demonstrating his commitment to promoting sports and community engagement in Latvia.
