Rain-in-the-Face

Rain-in-the-Face, born in 1835, was a prominent warchief of the Lakota tribe, known for his leadership and artistic talents. His lineage traced back to the Dakota people, connecting him to the renowned Chief Inkpaduta, which enriched his cultural heritage and influence within his community.

Throughout his life, Rain-in-the-Face played a significant role in the resistance against U.S. military expansion. His most notable participation came in 1876 during the historic Battle of the Little Bighorn, where he and his fellow warriors achieved a remarkable victory over the 7th Cavalry Regiment led by Lt. Colonel George Armstrong Custer.

As a traditional leader, Rain-in-the-Face not only fought for the rights and sovereignty of his people but also expressed his experiences and beliefs through art. His contributions to both leadership and culture have left a lasting legacy in the history of Native American resistance.
