Ralph Holley Keefler, born on September twelfth, nineteen oh two, in Weston, Ontario, was a distinguished Canadian soldier and businessman. He was the son of Joseph Keefler and Margaret Isabel Holley. Keefler pursued his education at the University of Toronto, where he earned a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering in nineteen twenty-four. His career began at the Bell Telephone Company, where he honed his skills in engineering.
During the tumultuous years of World War II, Keefler rose to prominence as a Major-General, commanding the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division during the final stages of the conflict. His leadership and strategic acumen were pivotal in the success of Canadian forces, contributing significantly to the war effort.
After the war, Keefler transitioned into the corporate world, taking on the role of chairman and president of Northern Electric, a position that would later see the company evolve into Nortel Networks. His influence extended beyond the corporate sector; in nineteen sixty-five, he served as president of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, further solidifying his legacy in both military and business realms.
