Ralph St. Germain

Ralph Emerson St. Germain, born on January 19, 1904, was a distinguished Canadian ice hockey player who made his mark on the international stage during the 1936 Winter Olympics. Representing Canada, he was selected to join the Port Arthur Bearcats, alongside teammates David Neville and Hugh Farquharson, despite being a member of the Royal Montreal Hockey Club.

During the Olympic tournament, St. Germain showcased his exceptional skills by playing in five games and scoring six goals, contributing significantly to Canada's achievement of the silver medal. His performance was a testament to his talent and dedication to the sport.

After the Olympics, St. Germain expressed his views on the perception of Canadian sportsmanship, attributing any negative impressions to the behavior of officials, particularly criticizing E. A. Gilroy and Patrick J. Mulqueen for their incessant disputes.

In recognition of his contributions to ice hockey, St. Germain was inducted into the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in nineteen eighty-seven as a member of the Olympic team. His legacy continued to be honored with his induction into the McGill Sports Hall of Fame in two thousand two and the Lisgar Collegiate Institute Athletic Wall of Fame in two thousand nine.
